Animal-assisted Therapy
Enhancing Therapy With The Calming Presence of Our Therapy Dog, Lily.
Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) leverages the deep, centuries-old bond between humans and dogs, providing therapeutic benefits supported by research. Studies have shown that interacting with dogs in a therapeutic setting positively impacts both mental and physical health.
The connection between humans and dogs dates back thousands of years. Early humans and dogs worked together, shared food, and supported one another. Over time, dogs have developed a unique ability to understand and respond to human emotions.
At Reins of Valor, we use Animal-Assisted Therapy to enhance the therapeutic experience. For clients new to therapy or those who find it difficult to open up, having a dog present can offer a sense of calm and safety, making it easier to engage in the process.
Clients are welcome to request Lily, our therapy dog, to join their sessions. Lily, an English Mastiff, is a loving and friendly presence, cherished by both clients and Dr. Stella’s family. With her background in therapy work, Lily is a skilled companion who helps create a supportive and nurturing environment.
